Get Loaded with the Happy Mondays in Glasgow did exactly as it said on the tin. Bez is cool. Of course he is. He's Bez. Shaun is Shaun. 'Never did no harm'. Except maybe a wee bit to himself. The Complete Stone Roses were actually unbelievable and Mani was dancing at the side of the stage behind a massive speaker.
Thanks so much to all who bought the single or came to see us.
Writing new songs and generally going to gigs that we're not playing at just now.

...and we've got our new video being shown on MTV2 and we're about to go on tour and we're playing some dates with Yeti. Is that enough. No...coz our single is out on the 8th of August. dunno bout you but I was so bored of seeing the last blog. Sorry it's been a while but we've been a bit busy - on tour with the paddingtons, shooting our video, posing like peacocks for italian vogue and then bathing in mud at glastonbury since we last talked. Thanks so much to all who came to see us at Glasto - it was an amazing turnout. Kisses and hugs all. Three times.

This week we're playing at flooks 1st birthday on saturday (16th aug)and being snapped by rolling stone amongst other things.

I'll keep it short n sweet and will start updating more....or is it worth it? does anyone actually read this toilet paper? I've put a wee photo of ben being interviewed at glastonbury. See you soon.

Hi.... working on converting demos into songs at the mo. Current titles include 'Acrobat' and 'He was my friend'. Next gig next Monday at the Pleasure Unit. Then Tues in Brixton. (www.themardous.com for details.) Gonna be freebies and stuff alongside some new tunes so would be v cool to have a gathering...just like the good old days.

Thanks to all who've seen us at various places across the country over the last few weeks. It’s been lots of fun. Even squeezed in a trip to the amusements on the pier at Portsmouth on Saturday, pockets stuffed with 2pences. The perfect hangover distraction. And although we've been quite busy it hasn't been the mayhem and chaos that sometimes happens so actually feeling very rested and can't wait to unveil the new songs...a bit like taking your first child to school on the first day I would imagine...although you’re nervous, and a bit worried, you just have to let go then there's nothing you can do...but you're sure they’ll be in safe hands.

in a good way..but im sure we'll be moaning bougt the rigours of touring the world soon (never i say, i blimin hope not anyway - not not the world, but the complaining, its all sweet as a refresher chew bar)

ok, before i start, i'd like to state that this is in no way a reflection of my emotional response to thee unstrung, the paddingtons and Low (my former favourite band of ALL time ((apart from the beatles)) but anyway..... last week i received the new Queens Of The Stone Age album and it has grabbed me like no other album of recent years. buy it!
I, as a songwriter, soak up influence like a sponge and am now, HUGELY influenced by the QOTSA. I realise i am effin' months/years behind everyone else on this, but there you have it.
If you are a guitarist/songwriter reading this, i like to think.....if it sounds good to you, it will sound good to everyone else so just go with it!

Just returned from a mini tour of Iceland. Icelanders ARE the coolest people on earth...sounds obvious but 'cool' in many ways. Gave me the reassuring understanding that people are naturally and impulsively creative. Driving on dirt roads, thousands of feet up, 15 miles from the next person could leave you feeling alone. But it doesn't. Icelanders leave little rock monuments - one rock balanced on top of a bigger one - for the next person that comes along to add another. The urge to create something beautiful entices them out their cozy 4x4s into the freezing cold to add a little touch of magic. Gorgeous. Amazing natural works of art.

Ok I can update now. Modern technology eh!? Thanks for all who were there tonight. See you tomorrow in Leeds.

but were sequels ever qny good? i y see i saw die hard on tv the other night, its good, but there showing the 2nd one next week, and i always thought it shit...but i think the sequel to the angels of nottingham will be much better...

well we played the boat club tonight, merci t all who obliged, its cool down there, you got nottingham forest football club next door, and on the other side of the river notts county...gang wars i tell you thee. no wonder notts is the murder capital of the world...

were off t leeds tmrw...

the faversham...in the evening..(why dont people play gigs in the morning?? and dont say cos its too early cos thats tat...everyones still up at that time anyways)

its also been a while since gracing this blog...so heres my best (even if to some it aint ever good enough - well im sorry)
where to begin...oh so many things seem to occur, dissapear in a blur but......but ifs and buts are never enough
queen is dead was magic. gracias to all who visited, it was nice havin the place packed out, then after an hour or twos kip it was off t' the garden studios, the single sounds ace, big thanks paul tipler who did an ace job producing, and to the libertines for lending us bongo's and amps and maracas and the like for the weekend. thankyou. x
a few gigs have been and passed, half the memories never last, but nottingham on tuesday sticks in the mind. was magic seeing all the people who'd made the journeys from all over the country, and 2 other wicked bands played too (arctic monkeys and the morphines) making it a top night. The angels of nottingham were superb too. if you dont know about them then...well you shoulda stuck around...did an interview with Radio Luton at about 4am, you might think id be the wrong side of coherent by that stage, but no, never, in fact it was the interviewer who was struggling to pin two words together...i think if you go to radio luton webpage itll be up soon.
well the point of the internet seems to be to appeal to people with no patience, so whilst i would dearly love to go on for days, and trust me (if you can#) i could, but ill put an end to it all and heres a coupla gigs coming up...

the past whatever it be has been mighty, escape blighty and back again. Wales was a laugh then Paris was wicked and everyone loved the mardous over there which was pretty nice, should be some reviews/ineterviews from it soon, we'll get someone to translate and stick it up here, the parisians were f'in great too. Then back t' london and recording the new song 'Popsong', and a weekend to remember, running round london causin mischief, and finally a few hours kip, i feel dazed (but aint confused), theres a few gigs coming up everyone should come to, heres what i can remember:

Thurs 24th Headline 'Club Rock' (?!!) at Catch 22, Shoreditch, London

Sat 26th Tap n Tin, Chatham, Kent

Fri 4th March Queen is Dead, Bordeline, London (onstage midnight, but will be busy so best arrive by 11ish)
